What you'll learn
By taking Hypnosis 101: Learning the Art of Basic Hypnosis, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of hypnosis and its potential uses. This course is divided into nine classes, each of which covers a different aspect of hypnosis:
- Class 1: Overview (Introduction to Hypnosis) - Students will learn about the history of hypnosis, what hypnosis is, and why it's used. The course requirements will also be discussed.
- Class 2: Hypnosis: What IS It & Why Use It? - This class defines hypnosis and explores the hypnotic formula. Students will also practice an induction in class.
- Class 3: Overview of History of Hypnosis; Suggestibility Tests - Students will learn about the history of hypnosis and participate in suggestibility tests to determine their level of susceptibility to hypnosis.
- Class 4: The Six Main (or basic) Induction Types (Part I) - This class explains the basic induction types and demonstrates the technique for each type. Students will then participate in supervised practice, using Hypnosis Practice Record sheets.
- Class 5: Inductions (Part II) - This class completes the presentation and demonstration of inductions, and students will practice under supervision.
- Class 6: Deepening and Awakening - Students will learn about the basic depth levels of hypnosis, deepening techniques, and awakening guidelines, and practice under supervision.
- Class 7: Testing During Hypnosis (convincers) - This class explains why convincers are used and demonstrates five convincers. Students will then practice under supervision.
- Class 8: Post-hypnotic Suggestion - Students will learn about the differences between therapeutic and non-therapeutic suggestions, direct and indirect suggestions, and guidelines for suggestion structure.
- Class 9: Legal/Ethical Issues, Potential Dangers - This class covers legal and ethical issues related to hypnosis and the potential dangers associated with its practice.
In addition to the “regular” classes students will have access to numerous electives to choose from, some presented live, and others are available as a video recording.
